What Actually Limits PPF's Lifespan
A few things, and they compound. Film yellows under sustained sun, budget film can go cloudy in 2 to 3 years, and even premium film shows it on hoods and roofs before the decade is out, because that is where UV load is highest. Once it yellows, there is no fix, only replacement. Install quality matters just as much: film that was not cut precisely or prepped properly fails early, usually lifting at the edges first, and it can look perfect for six months before it starts peeling. Every install also has cut lines at the panel edges, and those recessed seams collect dirt and moisture and become the first place the film lifts as it ages. And where the car lives is the accelerant, a car parked outside in year-round sun ages film faster than a garaged one.

Here is the part that changes the math. When film reaches the end of that 7-to-10-year window, it does not just fade quietly, it has to come off completely and be reinstalled.
