This is the first Supra we ever put Icon Rocklear on, in Stratosphere Blue from 2023, and it was still pretty much new when it came in. We've coated a lot of them since then, mostly black and red, and we still haven't had another blue one come through the door. Icon Rocklear is our permanent paint protection coating, and it bonds into the factory clear coat rather than sitting on top as a layer that wears off.
That's a shame, because this blue's got metallic flake in it, and flake under a light like that either pops or falls flat, so it'll tell you more about a finish than a darker colour does. The blue on this car looked stunning by the time we'd finished with it. The hexagon lights you can see in the reflections are how we check our own work, and most of these frames sit in close for the same reason, so what you're judging is the paint itself instead of the shape of the car.
In the headlight frame the hexagons come through as hard-edged shapes with real depth under them, on the sill plate the paint below it still reads wet, and down around the caliper the gloss carries into the rocker. A car'll look good on the day it leaves any decent shop, so the question that's worth asking is what it's going to look like after five more summers in the same parking lot. Icon Rocklear resists the UV fade and the dulling that turn a blue like this chalky, and it keeps dirt and grime from getting embedded and crusted into the paint. It doesn't yellow, and you're not waxing it to hold the depth in. If it ever does wear down, the factory clear coat underneath is untouched. We've gone through how that works on our Icon Rocklear page.
