This one showed up already modified, which changes the job a bit. A Circuit Edition leaves the factory with a forged carbon roof and a vented hood, this owner had added bolt-on overfenders on top of that, and it's carrying a lot more hard edges and panel breaks than you'd find on a stock hatch, so a reflection has to cross every one of them. We put Icon Rocklear on the whole car, our permanent paint protection coating, and it bonds into the factory clear coat rather than sitting on top as a layer that wears off. Under the hex rig the grey holds one clean line from the nose all the way back to the rear door.
Grey's the colour people write off, and I think that's a mistake. There's no bright paint doing the work for you, so the finish is the only thing making the car look expensive, and a grey that's gone chalky looks tired in a way a faded red somehow never quite does. What you're looking at here is the other end of that, real depth in the panels and the hexagons landing clean across the hood.
That's the part the coating's actually for. Icon Rocklear resists the UV fade and the dulling that turn paint chalky in the first place, and it keeps dirt and grime from getting embedded and crusted into the surface. It doesn't yellow, and it doesn't need waxing. If it ever does wear down, the factory clear coat underneath is untouched. There's more on how it works on our Icon Rocklear page.
